One version is when you wish to print glossy photos and the other is for the matte-finish prints as well as those on fine-art type paper. Installation of the printer is easy and the only aspect you need to worry about is the clearance aspect at the rear of the printer. High quality prints

In terms of print speeds, the Canon Pixma Pro9500 printer does not do a very good job when compared to its competitors. With 6 minutes to print a print of 8x10, 3 minutes for a print of 4x6 inches and 16 minutes for prints of 12x18 inches, these Canon printers can almost be called slow. The Canon Pixma Pro9500 printer runs on Canon PGI 9 cartridges and each of these are available at a price of 15 dollars. The size of these cartridges is quite small, especially when you look at typical cartridges used for large-sized printers. Compared to many other printers within the same range, the Canon Pixma Pro9500 printer does not devour ink as quickly, which in turn guarantees a longer shelf life of the cartridges and inks.

Our verdict

Overall, the Canon Pixma Pro9500 printer is an excellent choice if you frequently use matte as well as fine-art type of papers for your prints. The print quality in such formats is superb and better than many other major brands in the segment. However, this will only work to its advantage if you have the latest drivers installed. In terms of prints on high gloss paper, the results are not that impressive. With a pricing of around 850 USD, the Canon Pixma Pro9500 printer may not be the cheapest choice, especially when compared to the 700 USD PhotoSmart Pro B9180 from HP. Yet, these Canon printers deliver well and are a good choice for certain print types.
