Pros
Good output

Cons
Cheap quality, expensive ink, Compatible Printer Ink Cartridge with Dell 720

This Dell 720 Printer came for free with the Dell Dimension PC I ordered a couple of months ago. I really didn't need another printer since I already have a superior HP model, but it came as part of a free promotion and there wasn’t really an option not to get it. My intention was to keep my HP printer and give this Dell to my mom for her Windows 98 machine.

Another thing to consider when buying this printer is that you have to buy the ink from Dell.

Dell doesn't have these printers listed for sale on their site anymore, but I think they retailed for around $50-60. For the cost of ink replacement, you can see that this is basically a throwaway printer, like many of the cheaper ink jet printers on the market. For what it would cost to replace the ink once, you could just buy a new printer. Even worse, the included ink cartridges are 'trial versions' which don't even come at full capacity.

The printer itself is pretty cheap and lightweight and made of fairly delicate plastic. The paper trays and guides all seem a little flimsy and I wouldn't trust this printer to be moved around a lot. The output is actually very good and clean, but inkjet printers have been around so long now that even the cheapest ones still look good. Full color images on photo paper come out surprisingly crisp and I didn't notice any issues with misalignment of each line of printing.

This Dell 720 printer would be perfect for the casual user who occasionally prints off an email or document. It would also be good as a cheap but quality printer for a college student. Given the price of the ink and the limited durability of the printer itself, I would recommend you buy an HP or Lexmark for the same price just so you will have more options for buying replacement ink. Nothing sucks worse than when time is crucial and you can't just go buy more ink when you run out. As a student, I've been there.

Dell A960 Personal All-in-one Inkjet Printer

The Dell A960 is a compact color inkjet multipurpose printer that comes at a very inexpensive price.

With a printing speed of up to 17 pages per minute and a maximum printing resolution of 1200*4800, the A960 is fast and offers great printing quality. When the Dell A960 Printer ink cartridges run low, the user is informed and the program links to Dell for ordering a new.  replacement for the cartridge.

Some Dell A960 Inkjet Printer Reviews from eOpinions:

Pros: Nice print quality but.......
Cons: INK INK INK INK INK INK !!!!!!
I can't even go into what is good about this printer because it has a fatal flaw - it drinks ink. I am working on a project that requires a fair amount of printing with only a small amount of colour per page and I have never seen a printer go through ink as fast - add to that the fact that I can't run to the local store as Dell has not allowed anyone else to sell their ink for this model but them and they have a monopoly of a very high demand product. Very smart, you might think unless you consider that I have gone out and bought a Canon i900D after only a month.

Pros: Cost is low to purchase. Good print quality. Easy to fax and copy.
Cons: Really uses ink fast.
I found this printer to be very convenient to set up. I had some difficulties right out of the box though, as I attempted to utilize the USB connection through a hub. This was problematic and caused a waste of paper and ink (I only have one USB outlet available on my laptop). Once I discovered that the hub was causing communication problems for the printer and the laptop I had a much better time with the printer.
The print quality is very good, and the speed is very good for lower quality printouts. The copier and fax work very well, including when they are not connected to the computer. I find the on-board interface to be a little confusing, but fairly simple to get used to.
