If you ask around what a printer means to them, you might get two different answers. The first group of people will tell you how a great printer should be reliable to their business operations or studies. For them, a great printer should have large printer ink cartridge capacity, fast printer speed, and efficient printing system - all important to get the job of the day done. However, the more unusual answer is; printers have to taste good!
Printers tasting good? That is just one of the many unconventional things that printer inks can do today. While many have used their creative juices to produce wonderful crafts, even the food industry - particularly the bakeries, are finding out how versatile their printer can be.
Cake decoration is a serious art. From birthday cakes to wedding cakes, cake artists will tell you that half of the beauty of the cake is the taste and the other half lies on the presentation. Decorating cakes with printer inks is not new. However, it is only now that the technology behind it adapted office printer inks and the usual printer ink cartridges to make the process more affordable for bakeries. The shrinking cost of the system gave more leeway for pastry makers and other chefs to produce more design patterns. All you need is a good photo printer such as a Canon Pixma Photo, scanner, compatible printer ink cartridges, and edible inks. Then, replace the photo paper with edible icing sheets to produce printer pictures for your cake designs.
The use of printer ink cartridges will allow cake artists to be more accurate in displaying company logos and photographs on cakes. At the same time, it is an easier process than hand-drawn cake designs. The edible ink acts as a cover on printer cakes which is as easy as printing your choice photo then placing it on the top of the cake - a step that even mothers at home can do successfully.
If you already have a decent photo printer in your home, you just need a replacement printer ink cartridge that holds edible ink and an icing sheet. Canon printers are very popular for these tasks with various edible ink retailers offering a wide range of Canon printer ink cartridges. Canon printers that are up for this include Pixma iP3000, iP4000, i850, i950, i9100. i9900, S200, S820D, and S9000. You should properly configure your printer to produce the best effect on you icing sheets.
Once you have the replacement equipment, everything else is vanilla. You can pop in your Photoshop software to employ some photo effects, get a scanner to display photographs, or compile photos for a photo collage. The possibilities are limitless. Even if you feel limited with what you can do, you can work with a graphic artist to create ink templates for you. Who knew a regular photo printer can do these things? If you are a baker, an aspiring chef, or a mom who loves to bake, you can experiment with edible inks and see where this new method of cake decoration takes you.
