Does your child want to update the décor in his or her bedroom? Many home decorating projects tend to focus on the rooms in the house that house guests get to see or where the family tends to spend most of its time together at home. In some cases, redecorating the bedroom is not that high in priority when it comes to home decorating projects.
But if your child wants to have his or her bedroom redecorated, you do not have to spend a fortune just to get it done. A few new items here or there may be enough, and it is even possible that you can make them by yourself using a wide-format printer. Here are a few home decorating projects that you can make using a wide-format printer to redecorate your child's room.
1. Window blinds. The typical, run-of-the-mill, plastic window blinds that you get to buy from a home improvement store can look dull and uninteresting. You can make it more colorful by having a picture of your child's favorite cartoon character printed on it. Download a few pictures of the cartoon character from the Internet and ask your child to choose what he or she likes best.
After your child has chosen what picture he or she likes the most, you can resize it so that it would fit the window blinds. Then, print the image on transfer paper using a wide-format printer and then use heat to transfer the image onto the window blinds.
2. Wall panels. Do the walls of your child's bedroom look plain and boring? You can make it livelier by adding colorful wall panels on certain parts of the wall. There are many ways by which you can do this. The usual method would be to take a few cans of paint and paint the wall panels yourself. But this can be messy and time consuming for you.
On the other hand, you can buy blank wallpaper and print a design of your own or of your child's choosing using a wide-format printer. It would not take too long to get this project done and your child will not have to breathe in fumes from fresh paint for weeks.
3. Bed linens. If the bed linens in your child's room do not appeal to your child, you can make your child some customized bed linens – quilts, pillow cases, comforters and blankets. You do not have to be skilled with a needle and thread to get this project done. You only need to buy the fabric that you need from a fabric store.
Once you have the fabric, you can pick out patterns or images that you want, or you can have your child choose what he or she wants. And then, you can either feed the fabric directly to the wide-format printer or use transfer paper.
You do not have to own a wide-format printer to get these home decorating projects done. If you do not have a printer of your own, you can take your ideas to a printing shop. The great thing about these projects is that you can make them together with your child.
