Digital Camera and Its Continuous Evolution

In the era of the 20th century, the development of photography and camera devices continued to accelerate alongside the pace of other technology developments. It was in the last 100 years of the 20th century when the major development in the technology of communications has been established as well as other fields of technology such as the internet, cars, aircraft, mobile phones, computers, televisions and digital devices.

The evolution and developments of the camera simplified the entire process of photography which made it accessible and affordable. With the help of the industry’s denizen of today’s world the camera was made into a mass phenomenon. The first camera that was available to the public was made during the late 19th century era which is traceable since the 1900. Today cameras are available ranging from different models, brands and prices both for professional photographers and amateurs. Camera has become a very important gadget that a family must have.

In the year 1913 the 35mm still-camera was created, the first in the history of cameras. The there was the Polaroid camera that was known for its instant photography in 1948. The first underwater photography was done with the help of the first 35mm underwater camera in 1957. Automatic focus camera with “point-and-shoot” functions was created by Asian players of that field from 1978 to 1980.

Pixar in 1985 introduced digital imaging and processing and during 1986 to 1987 giant strides were taken by Kodak in the development of digitalization. Digital means photographic image that’s divided into small units of squares or dots otherwise known as the pixels. Pixels are programmable units of images which can be processed through a computer. In 1991 Kodak introduced the first digital camera that was aimed for journalists and professionals. A pixel-based technology of camera was invented by Kodak, therefore entitles it with the credit of inventing the digital camera as it is known to us.

The digital camera and its development have been considered to be linked to the evolution of the video and television technology. Digital electrical impulses which are used in the principles of transmitting audio-visual images and recordings are used in the technology of camera imaging as well.

The development of the camera’s technology continued at a rapid space throughout the 1990’s. It is now more focused into shifting to the field of digital camera imaging in which the future lies. The new norm is storing and sharing downloadable digital images which are done directly from the digital camera to a personal computer at home which is possible by using software, making digital cameras more user-friendly. The worldwide web, the software industry and the camera in today’s world are now irrevocably interlinked with each other, empowering the users of digital cameras to experience its full potential usage.

Digital developments in the 21st century are the advanced features of their product that are being offered by manufacturers of digital cameras which will definitely take an important place and make an unforgettable mark in the history of camera and its development.
