How Can I Fix the Connection Between my Printer and PC?

This process given below is only meant for the connection of a parallel port printer to the PC. However, if you have a Macintosh serial printer or even PC Universal Serial Bus Printer, the process is almost the same.

STEP 1: Printer Positioning

You should position your printer in a way such that it gets adequate ventilation.

STEP 2: The Printer Cable

You need a printer cable that is IEEE-1284 compliant. Most printers do not come with cables. You need to buy one for yourself.

STEP 3: Shutting down the Computer

Though you must shut down the computer, don’t remove its plug from the surge suppressor.

STEP 4: Comparing and Attaching

The cable has connectors at its opposite ends. Compare them. One end of the 25 pin cable needs to be connected to the parallel port on the computer. The hand screws must be fastened and you must attach the other end of the cable to the socket of the printer.

STEP 5: Plugging it in

The power cord now needs be plugged into the surge compressor and the other end of the cord should go into the printer.

STEP 6: Cartridges

Install the printer ink cartridges into the printer after switching it on.

STEP 7: Installing the Printer Driver

Turn on the computer and install the printer drivers of the printer according to the instructions of the manufacturer.

STEP 8: Take a Print Out

To check whether everything is in working order or not, just take a printout.
