If I have 4 Cartridges in my Printer, and only one is empty, Can I Still Print?

This is a difficult one. However, it can be done. One thing you must be careful about, though. Printer manufacturers want you to buy ink cartridges as soon as they are over. There are some safeguards for this in place; hence printing when you have an empty cartridge is difficult.

STEP 1: Make doubly sure

Are you really sure that you have no ink in that cartridge. Yes, you will get the printer prompt with respect to the low ink levels or it will show you the ‘no ink’ message. However, even a little ink can make all the difference. So, check and re-check.

STEP 2: Identify the Cartridge

Now, if you have 4 printer ink cartridges in your printer, you need to identify the cartridge that has no ink. Again the printer will inform you about it. Also, more often than not, it is the color cartridges that run out of ink.

STEP 3: Do Not Remove the Cartridge

For no reason should you remove the empty cartridge from the cartridge holster. Your printer will not function with one of its cartridges not in the slot. So, even if it’s empty keep it there.

STEP 4: Printer Settings

Now, you need to open your printer settings. When the printer window opens, select properties; and then choose a tab titled ‘Paper/Quality’. Herein, you can choose the kind of quality you want. You could choose ‘Fast Draft’ or ‘Normal’. Otherwise you could click on the color tab and tick on the box ‘Select Grayscale’.

A printout should not be a problem if you follow these steps.
